Day by day, the pollution is on rise..
As a result of intense industrialization and growing auto mobilization, the global warming has surrounded the earth. The world over, the excessive increase in the content of Carbon-di-oxide, in the air has posed a grim problem, for the coming generations.
In recently concluded, Copen Hagon, CanCOON-Mexico’s Cope Conference or the Davos climate change summit has not been able to provide any permanent and acceptable solutions for the developed as well as developing economies.
In such scenario, the booming economy of Gujarat, which is also rapidly attracting various industries, has offered a valuable key.. For the dedicated Hon. C.M. OF Gujarat, earning mileage by making supersonic industrial progress, is not the sole achievement. Shri Modiji, has always strived to lift the standard of living of people in Gujarat and not merely economical standards. He envisaged presenting uncontaminated and carbon-free environment. The Gujarat govt. played a pro-active role in offering elucidation to the burning issue of climate change.
The AMC-Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, saved Rs. 18 crore, per annum, by providing Narmada’s clean water through river Sabarmati. The mineral content, per liter, decreased from 1500 mili liter to 150 mili liter. In Surat, on the banks of Tapi river, the plants providing Gas, Fuel, Solar, Hydro, Wind, Thermal and Clean energy are in progress. The Hon. C.M. proposed to people, to shut the electricity, on the full moon nights and to light the roads through moon light. Gujarat’s longest coastal line of 1600 kilo meter, has been rewarded with Mangroves, to impede the disastrous effects of floods.
The World Bank. Which denied offering any aid in Narmada Sardar Sarovar Dam project, had no choice but to award the Gujarat Govt. Green Award, post Kutch eclipse, for successfully re implementing the calamity struck region, with taking utmost care of the environment.
The subject of Climate Change and as a result the global warming has been very close to Shri Modiji’s heart. His recently written book, “Convinient Action-Gujarat’s response to challenges of Climate” is the second book, written on the subject, by the political leader, after Mr. Al Gore. This book presents an insight to the Gujarat’s efforts and actions to tackle the problem, its solutions. In addition, the state wide Gas grid, through which the possibilities for provision of Clean and Green Energy, in the entire state. Shri Modiji, has emphasized on the proximity of relation between mankind and nature. The verity has been highlighted in Athrva Ved and tales of Panchtantra. Shri Modiji, also accentuated on the need to travel from Climate Change to Climate Justice, on the basis of the Trustyship Theory of Mahatma Gandhi, which underlined the requirement of utilizing the natural resources for the welfare of the entire society. The core reason for Climate Change, is excessive wastage of energy.
Dr. Abdul Kalam, the Hon. Ex. President, while inaugurating the book, wish stated that with due efforts in this field, Gujarat was on the path of turning into Carbon Neutral State by 2030. He also praised Shri Modiji’s efforts of utilizing his political power in realizing the conjecture of Clean Home, Clean Village, Clean State and Clean Nation.
