The Jaipur Literature fair has turned into the ‘Talk of Town’...It sounds appealing that literature is being talked about. Firstly, it is the visit of Opraha but more importantly or rather sensationally it is on the ban on the visit of Salman Rushdee, a Booker prize winner writer, born in Mumbai, India but now is based in U.K.
The ‘Freedom of Speech’ is a complex theory. Basically, it implies to freedom in expression of thoughts.
But,
Many a times, banning a book leads to banning the person. Salman Rushdie has written number of other books and actually Setanic Verses is not one of his best writings. Nor has he won the Booker’s prize for it. He has also written a beautiful book called The children of Midnight.
Agreed,
The Setanic Verses, has hurt the religious beliefs of the followers of Islam.
But,
Is it acceptable to ban the person who has written lots of other books and added colossal literature. The book has been banned that ignited the devout values of Muslims. Why ban the person from presenting his other creation???
Is it not height of appeasement???

Yes I also agree that it is 100% extra appeasement but as for as congress is concern it is not a new thing. Congress always leads to such appeasements.
